Medium Olive Trees

$60.00

Olive Trees are long-lived, slow-growing evergreen trees with attractive silvery green foliage. During spring, Olive Trees produce small creamy-white flowers, which are followed by green fruit. Eventually, the fruit ripens to red or black throughout summer and autumn. Their long history has seen their oil, fruit and branches used by many cultures for thousands of years. Mature Olive Trees can grow up to 7 metres in height and width with gnarled grey trunks. Olive Trees are the perfect addition to any home or garden!

Sunlight:
Olive Trees need lots of natural sunlight. They will thrive outdoors or on a balcony where they can soak up the sunshine. If you’re keeping your Olive Tree indoors, you will need to ensure they still get plenty of sunlight.

Water:
We recommend allowing the 5cm of soil to dry out before watering. It is important that you do not overwater your Olive Tree or have it sitting in water. Olive Trees are native to the Mediterranean and are particularly suited to drier conditions - so they don’t need to be misted.

Drainage & Soil:
Olive trees can be planted in pots but will require full drainage. We recommend lots of drainage holes and a free-draining potting mix, such as a cactus/ succulent mix or a similar sandy soil mix.

Pests:
Olive trees can be susceptible to damage from insect pests. Routinely check the underside of the leaves and use a neem oil spray, such as We The Wild’s Protect Spray to treat any invading pests.

Pruning:
Pruning any long branches will promote vigorous new growth and an attractive shape. Use sharp pruners to cut the stem at a 45° angle, 1/4-inch above a leaf node (where a leaf attaches to a stem). Pruning will force branching from just below where the cut was made.

Minimum height: 110cm
